We had a little friend turn two this past weekend, so I had to make some baskets to carry and hold the presents we had for her.
I remember when Siena and Lucas loved cooking. You know, the make believe cooking.
We had a little kitchen right in our kitchen that was used by both of them, so much, when they were little. All the cooking, playing, serving, baking, alone, with friends, between the two of them… we have so many beautiful, wonderful memories! Those are still in prints in photo albums, but as I look back, there are not enough. I want to hear them playing and their talking, their offers and menus from their kitchen and restaurants. I don’t want to forget their steps towards who they are today.
So I set to make two baskets, with little handles so she can hold them and carry them easier. I hadn’t tried handles before, and I liked it.
So I made a third one. A present to celebrate her parents’ birthdays a couple of months ago. Because you can celebrate your birthday all year, right? And we filled this one with jams, pickles and apple sauce. A little for everyone. (Not pictured.)
These were wrapped and unwrapped and played and moved from one basket to another, and from one pot to another and to the next pan all with care and with the same amazed eyes I remember our own little ones years ago.
