From the same book we made the corn husk mask, we made a Warrior’s Feathered Hat.  Both Siena and Lucas picked the Feathers-in-Front Warrior Hat worn by the Iroquois.

They drew what they wanted to have on their hat, with Sharpies and oil pastels, because it was a wide piece of paper (that we folded in three to be sturdier.)

We made porcupine quills.

And glued them into the design.

And made feathers, to glue and tape them in front of the hat.

But the problem with our home made feathers, was that they flopped over a little too much.

Maybe next time I would use a thicker paper, more like card stock for the feathers. Or try to find long real feathers.  I think that would have been perfect!  But this was a really fun project to do. Not too hard and it turned out good, and lasting enough for some playing too.
