Vancouver, BC : a walk across the bridge

When we left on our trip to Vancouver, BC, we decided to leave really early that morning, so we could have the afternoon to do something when we arrived there.  And we did!

We talked to the folks in the front desk at the hotel we were staying at, and even though none of them had actually walked across the Granville Bridge, they said we could.  And yes people do walk across it.  The sidewalk is wide, and the view amazing!

I think when you live in a place, you get used to a routine or ways you do things, and if you don’t usually walk to a place, your days go by not doing it.

But I’ve learned, walking across a bridge, it’s incredible.  It feels powerful, standing on top of so much water, seeing it go by, being able to see so far away, seeing the boats, the engineering that took to build this structure where not only you are walk over a big mass of water, but cars and buses and trucks go over it too. I’m always amazed (yeah, I’m not an engineer.)

We were heading to Granville Island Market.  The view from top was a fun one.  And those ferries there, we didn’t ride them this time.  I hope we will next time we visit.

I think I want to do more of that.  Walk across bridges.  It’s a fun thing to do, to get a new view from something I might be familiar with already.  There’s always a new way to see something, isn’t there?  I’ll see how I do it.
