First one and probably not the last one

This was the sight when we walked into the Alpenrose grounds.  Almost everyone in their bike attires, they seem to know where to go and what to do.  We were lost, until we found our way.

Lucas got his number, and was very excited to be there.

And we watched a friend race.  It can’t get any better than that, right?

Actually it did.

Another friend who told us about this race, and thought Lucas would enjoy it, was also there volunteering his time to help people fix and ready their bikes.

It was very exciting.  Lucas had never raced before.  He was excited.  Now with newly pumped tires and brakes checked.

And then it was time.

Off they went.

They have to pass their bikes over few hurdles.

Lucas does great without our help.

And being the first time we’ve gone, and first time seeing the circuit, I was surprised to see that they (these little kids of ours) had to climb up quite a few stairs with bike in arms, as part of the race.

I wonder if Lucas is thinking the same thing.

I looked at Mark, he goes down to help him, but he was already half way up and didn’t want any help.  I can’t believe he is 6.

And we are so proud of him.  He’s excited, happy and hot.

And then I see this face.  I guess the race was NOT long enough… my little guy was ready for much more than these 15 minutes.

Maybe next time.

Bikes everywhere, of all colors, sizes and shapes.

Some french fries.

Sharing, learning and growing up together.  A beautiful day was yesterday.

We were not really planning on doing this, but I’m glad we did.  I know we are going to go back again soon.  Look at my little (big) guy:

Go Lucas! Go Lucas! Go Lucas! I can’t wait to show Ossley this. He already thinks Lucas is the most awesome person ever but now . . . If you do this again, please let us know. We’d love to tag along. We’d all love to cheer Lucas on.

Oh Amy Jo. It was fun, and very crazy! Oh my goodness so many people, and so many bikes! Lucas was in another world enjoying every sight, everywhere he looked. It would be fun to go together. We’ll let you know.
