Celebrating Ganesh

Ganesh Chaturthi is a festival that lasts eight days.  We started last Thursday, September 1 and I recorded some of the songs and moments of the beginning of the celebration so that we can watch and remember in years to come.  And somehow be transported to this week, this day, this moment, here in Scindia School.  It has been such a festive and fun celebration these two days, that I’m hoping even when we’ve grown up and are in some other part of the world, we can watch it and be here once again.

And I’ll share it with you.  It’s 5 minutes long and you can listen the chants and the songs and the whole feeling of happiness and party and well being.     The last minute or so of the video you can see Lucas and Siena being invited to go in front and do an offering to Ganesh.

This is the first god we’ve learned a little bit about.  Lucas has really enjoyed reading about Ganesh and we even found a perfect one to keep and have with us in our home here.  I think it’s something we’ll be taking home with us, to Portland.

Hope you can see this video I made.  Enjoy!

these moments

A beautiful and fun Friday ritual. Inspired by SouleMama.

{this moment} – A Friday ritual. A single photo – no words – capturing a moment from the week. A simple, special, extraordinary moment. A moment I want to pause, savor and remember. – Amanda Soule
But for right now I couldn’t narrow it down to ONE photo.  So I’m adding a “few moments” from this week.

If you’d like to share ‘your moment‘ leave a comment and a link to your post here.  Thanks for sharing!  Have a beautiful weekend.
