I was a little nervous arriving at the airport at 11:30pm, after traveling for almost 24 hours. But it turned out to be the best thing. It wasn’t crowded at all. The line at customs was minimal. Our suitcases arrived quickly. ALL of our suitcases!
Our next step was to get through customs (didn’t check anything) and find our ride to the hotel. We were a little worried that we didn’t have it anymore being so late and Monday, August 15, India’s Independence Day.
We stepped out of the airport after midnight and the heat and the humidity hit us right away. We had our ride, so we didn’t have to get a taxi. And we just had to figure out how to put all these suitcases in the car. It all worked out and we rode to the hotel in an air conditioned car, with the streets almost empty. Just a short 20-minute drive to the hotel but we realized right away we were not home anymore. (More on this on a another post soon.)
We were warmly welcomed at the Taj Mahal Hotel with a beautiful necklace of fresh flowers.
